MAK specialises in supplying reliable products to the marine industry. One such product represented since 1989 is Orkot Marine Bearings. Recognised internationally for superior performance Orkot Bearings are used extensively by leading shipowners, ship repairers and builders of vessels of all types and classes - rudder applications are particularly successful. Thousands of Orkot bearings have been fitted as stock, pintle,neck and carrier bushes in all type of rudders including spade, balanced and semi balanced types.

Orkot utilise a unique synthetic composition which incorporates solid lubricant for dry running to ensure outstanding wear life for all rudder bushes operated below and above the draught line. Virtually no swelling in water and very low co-efficient of expansion provide dimensional stability in arctic and tropical seas.

Surveyors' inspection and docking reports proved that Orkot Rudder Bearings are capable of maintaining the clearances required by classification societies for at least 10 years or more. Type approvals up to 15 N/mm2 design pressure allow Orkot to replace all traditional synthetic bearings as well as bronze with extremely cost effective solutions.

Whilst appreciating that the requirement for renewal of a rudder bearings may not be known until inspection, MAK are happy to quote in advance of docking in case renewal becomes necessary. These pre-docking proposals contain all the technical information superintendents need for a refit ensuring that they do not lose valuable time during docking searching for a supplier. Bearings offered are oversized to allow the shipyards to machine them to suit the final shafts and housings and provided with complete machining & fitting instructions.

Rudder bearings up to 2000mm diameter are available.

In conjunction with international distributors MAK are able to supply standard bearings immediately from local stock centres around the world or from the main stores in the UK. In addition non-standard bushes are manufactured in the UK and shipped worldwide usually within 24 hours from receipt of instructions.
